The Asogli State Council says no individual or group has been mandated to lobby for the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV to be considered as running mate of National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama.
The council said that despite their clarification, Togbe Afede XIV will not snub any opportunity to serve Ghana in a higher position.
“As a patriotic citizen, he would not reject any opportunity to serve the country, but the choice of a running mate is the prerogative of the flag bearer who already knows him very well.” A portion of a statement from the council reads.
Adding that, “But Togbe has not mandated anybody or group to lobby for his choice as running mate."
The statement comes after Togbe Afede XIV went viral for claims that he was lobbying for the running mate position through some individuals.
The news was, however, met with some mixed reactions -but the Asogli State Council has apologised to the chiefs, kingmakers, the people of Asogli, and all others for any embarrassment they may have suffered
“The office of the Agbogbomefia operates an open-door policy and is open to communication, feedback, and inquiries from all citizens and stakeholders. We encourage individuals or groups to reach out directly on any matters, concerns or suggestions that require attention,” the statement said.
