With the nation still reeling from heartbreak, President John Dramani Mahama has announced a state funeral for the eight souls lost in the tragic military helicopter crash on August 6. (Also Read: NATIONAL SHOCK: Omane Boamah, Murtala among 8 dead in military helicopter crash)
The solemn ceremony will take place on Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square in Accra, in honour of the fallen ministers, government officials, and military personnel.
The state funeral, to be held under inter-denominational rites, forms part of a week-long national mourning period.
President Mahama noted that commemorations will begin with an Evening of Reflections and Memorial on Saturday, August 9, at 5:00 p.m. at the forecourt of the State House, a time for the nation to gather, grieve, and remember those who served with honour and fell in the line of duty.
