President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 15 individuals to serve as Ghana’s Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Consul-Generals in key global postings, in what marks the first batch of diplomatic appointments.
The nominations, announced in a statement from the Presidency, were made by Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution and following consultations with the Council of State.
Prominent among the nominees is Nii Amasah Namoale, former Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, who has been designated as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil. Also on the list is Kojo Bonsu, former Mayor of Kumasi, nominated as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
Two envoys have been nominated to the United Arab Emirates:
Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali is heading to the UAE
Grace El Mahmoud Marabe is designated specifically for the Ghana Consulate in Dubai
Celebrated actress Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe has also been nominated as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.
