Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed deep appreciation after winning the Footballer of the Year award at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards, describing the recognition as one of the most meaningful moments in his career.
The 31-year-old, who also took home the Football for Good award alongside Tariq Lamptey for their philanthropic efforts, beat off competition from Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams to claim Ghana’s most prestigious individual football honour.
In an emotional address to the audience at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night, Partey said:
“First of all, I want to say thank you to the organisers. It’s been three times on a roll. I appreciate that. And also to everyone who voted for me. I know it’s not easy. I have a lot of mates who deserve it. I’m not the only one, but as you know, I have the support of my family.
I take this with as much importance as any award I would receive in my career. I really appreciate it, and I love it.”
The award comes after a solid season for Partey, who helped Arsenal reached the Champions League semifinals and also finished second in the Premier League.
