Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, was released from Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) custody after meeting bail conditions.
He is expected to return for further questioning on June 4th and 9th, his lawyer, Mr Andy Appiah-Kub told Accra-based NEAT FM in an interview.
Wontumi was granted bail for GHS 50 million and fulfilled the conditions around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2.
Mr Appiah-Kubi further disclosed that Wontumi is currently in frail health and intends to formally request permission from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), which had earlier invited him for questioning, to seek medical attention.
He noted that Wontumi missed a scheduled meeting with the CID last Thursday due to his detention by EOCO.
