In what can only be described as a powerful and history-making moment, voluntary groups from 12 regions of Ghana converged on Wednesday, 1st May 2025, at the iconic Aggrey Memorial School in Cape Coast to forge a new path for the future of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana.
Representing the unwavering spirit of the ordinary party faithful, these groups—previously known by vibrant names such as PHD, Ken for President, Show-Down, and others—have now come together under a single united identity: “The Base.”
Present were committed patriots from the Savannah, Oti, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Bono, Ahafo, Western, and Western North regions. Their mission was simple but profound: to unite as one formidable grassroots movement anchored in love, truth, and hope—embodied by one man, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong.
And now, this powerful force has a unifying call:
“The Base!”
And the roaring response is: “Show Down!”
This greeting isn’t just a slogan—it is a declaration of unity, defiance against manipulation, and a symbol of unwavering loyalty to a cause greater than individuals.
What made this gathering even more extraordinary was that it was entirely organic. Hon. Ken himself was not even aware this meeting was taking place. He was taken by surprise when he received a phone call informing him of the thunderous gathering of loyal supporters. This was not a sponsored event, not a staged performance. It was the voice of the people—raw, real, and resounding.
This is what true leadership looks like. It’s not bought; it’s earned. And Hon. Ken has earned it through years of consistency, patriotism, and bold truth-telling. His name alone gathered thousands without his presence or invitation. That is the definition of grassroots power.
The meeting was held under the able leadership of Mr. Oti Bonsu, a respected and successful businessman based in Accra, whose vision and love for the party and country have helped give birth to this historic unification. Under his coordination, the diverse voluntary groups have adopted a common identity and a powerful slogan that echoes across the land: SHOW DOWN!
Let it be known far and wide: this movement is not about position—it’s about purpose. Not about power—but people. And not about personal gain—but national growth.
