The Koforidua High Court has dismissed an election petition challenging the victory of Frank Annoh Dompreh, Member of Parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, in the 2024 general election.

The petition, which sought to invalidate his election, was struck out by the court on Thursday, following a legal application filed by the Director of Legal Affairs of the New Patriotic Party, Gary Nimako Marfo Esq.

The presiding judge, His Lordship Krofa Addae, ruled in favour of the application to dismiss the case, thereby affirming the legitimacy of Mr Annoh Dompreh’s election.

The court found no merit in the petitioner's claims and held that the results as declared by the Electoral Commission reflected the true will of the people.

As part of the judgement, the court awarded a cost of GHS25,000 against the petitioner.

This ruling serves as a significant legal endorsement of the MP's mandate and a clear statement on the finality of the electoral process in the constituency.

Mr Annoh Dompreh, who currently serves as the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, welcomed the court’s decision, viewing it as a vindication of both his electoral victory and the confidence reposed in him by the electorate of Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
