Parliament's repeal of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) is expected to take effect before next Friday.
The Deputy Minister for Finance stated that the administrative process, including the President’s assent, is still underway.
According to Mr Thomas Nyarko Ampem, work is ongoing to reconfigure systems used for E-levy collection, and it is expected that the repeal could take effect before the end of next week, Friday.
“Parliament is still in session, and I doubt if the clerks have been able to transmit what we are doing to the President. There are other bills under consideration, so I suspect it will have to be tomorrow or the day after,” he said.
“Once Parliament has repealed it, it will in due course reach the President’s desk.”
“The GRA is already aware of this process. My discussions with the Commissioner-General suggest that as soon as the President assents, they will move to comply,” Mr Ampem said in an interview with JoyNews
