The opposition National Democratic Congress is pointing accusing fingers at the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi of being behind the disruption that occurred during their live press conference in Kumasi on Friday.
The National Organizer, Mr Joseph Yamin together with the party's security consultant, COP Kofi Boakye (Rtd)were chased out of the party's office this afternoon whilst addressing the media on some issues regarding tomorrow's elections.
For several hours, the leadership of the opposition party were held hostage, amidst the destruction of chairs and logistics in the office, as the angry youth accused the National Organizer and Kofi Boakye of incompetence.
Facts are now emerging, according to sources close to the National Organizer, that the thugs who led the onslaught are on the payroll of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Chairman Wontumi.
According to him, Chairman Wontumi has infiltrated the rank and file of the opposition party in the Ashanti Region and they are therefore not surprised about the attitude of the guys who sought to cause embarrassment to the NDC.
The latest incident confirms claims by Chairman Wontumi that he is remotely controlling the leadership of the NDC in the region.
